2021 as a Powerhouse Year

LornaGross Seated Showroom
In January 2020, Lorna Gross and her team held their annual business meeting to set their vision for the year. And for Lorna and the business, they chose a theme of “unapologetic visibility”, but then COVID hit.

So, that vision was delayed for a year, but there’s no doubt that Lorna has made good on “unapologetic visibility” in 2021. She started off the year as the first-ever guest editor for Designers Today, helping create a fantastic January 2021 edition (check it out online here), and designing a fabulous dining room for the Kips Bay Decorator Show House Palm Beach that was unveiled just a few months later, which was covered in Veranda, Elle Decor, ADPro, Galerie. and House Beautiful, among many others.

Her next step on the “unapologetic visibility” path was an interview in Business of Home’s 50 States Project, where editor-in-chief Kaitlin Petersen interviewed her on everything from how she got started in design, to sourcing with thoroughly disrupted supply chains, to how she determined her business offering. Lorna even managed to fit some accolades for Design Trust, And it’s such a great precis of the organization, we’re quoting her:

“A lot of people can do lovely design, but our business is really about how we are serving the client, and the service to the client has a lot to do with how good your back office is and how that is running. So what I love about Design Trust is we get to have those conversations about anything from insurance to warehouse receiver challenges and how to deal with that, to talking about the most reliable vendors, or team structure and HR issues. Being able to have those conversations in a safe environment is a jewel.”

And, while 2021 might be wrapping up, there’s no doubt Lorna and her firm will continue to gain recognition and respect. 2021 has definitely been a powerhouse year for her. “I’m celebrating my 15th anniversary in business and there are certain things that I’ve accomplished and can claim. We do great work, so let’s show up as the powerhouse brand that we are and own that space completely and not apologize for being good.”
